Description During World War II, PT boats engaged enemy warships, transports, tankers, barges, and sampans. Some were converted into gunboats which could be effective against enemy small craft, especially armored barges used by the Japanese for inter-island transport. Several PT boats withstood catastrophic battle damage and still remained afloat, most famously the forward half of future President John F. Kennedy’s PT-109 (Elco), which stayed afloat for 12 hours after she was cut in half by the Japanese destroyer Amagiri. This coin pays tribute to the legacy of the PT Boat and its crews who led their daring mission in the Pacific theater of World War II. It features 3D rendition of a PT Boat speeding across the seas, shown in colorful transparent enamel, with added 3D UV Print detail. The reverse shows the World War II Victory depiction of Liberation, with the text “The War that Changed the World” encircling. This coin measures 1.75 in (44mm) in diameter, and has an antique, silver-colored finish.
