The face value is $1,000 (USD). On the obverse is President Grover Cleveland. The reverse features the denomination. Please bear in mind these notes may not have all the same wear patterns, but are all VF 35 notes. When the Federal Reserve Notes were first introduced in 1914, that series featured the familiar notes you can find in your pocket today, at least from a rough design and denomination standpoint. This series included the $5, $10, $20, $50, and $100 notes. In 1918, the Federal Reserve issued $500, $1,000, $5,000, and $10,000 notes. In 1934, these four denominations received design overhauls that would remain in use through the 1970s when the notes were removed from circulation. Also known as Choice Very Fine, these VF 35 notes are similar in quality to Extremely Fine notes, but the number of folds is greater. The 22nd and 24th President of the United States, Cleveland is the only individual to hold the office on two non-consecutive terms. His likeness was added to the $1000 Federal Reserve Note in 1934, replacing the original design of Alexander Hamilton. The reverse side of the 1934 $1000 Federal Reserve Note comes with an image of the denomination and nation of issue. Initially, the $1000 note had an ornamental design with a depiction of an American bald eagle clutching a flagpole.
