Description Pandanus is a tropical plant known commonly as Pandan. The leaves are used in Southeast Asian cooking. The leaves have a nutty fragrance which enhances the flavor of foods, especially rice dishes and cakes. Please note that the scent comes and goes. On the most humid days here in S. Florida (daily), you smell that nutty fragrance from several feet away. I always know there are some pandan plants around by that delicious distinct smell. It is an erect green plant with fan-shaped, long, narrow leaves. It prefers to be in filtered light to partial sun and likes average moisture. It can reach a height of 6 to 8 feet tall. It is a tropical plant therefore avoid freezing temperatures. Please note that this is not an indoor plant. It does not do well with poor air circulation. We cannot guarantee indoor survival without proper conditions. It does need to be protected from temperatures in the mid 30’s or colder.
