Description Mammillaria plumosa, also known as Feather Cactus – is a super cute, low maintenance plant. It’s native to Northeastern Mexico where they grow as perennials. When not grown in their natural environment in the desert they are best grown as annuals. They are super cute and can be the perfect addition to your indoor plant collection where they can live for years. They can grow to be about 4″ tall, cluster to expand in width, and can reach to be about 3.5′ wide (in a 5 – 10 year time frame). Although they look super soft, be careful because they do have thorns that are quite sharp located underneath the longer feathery spines. They grow best in bright indirect light, with average water but never let them sit in standing water. In the spring and summer season, you’ll see cute, small white flowers pop up from underneath the feathery spines.
